How to customize my blog on wordpress.com

0 votes

Hi,

I have been using wordpress.com to maintain my online blogs. I know that there is something called wordpress.org as well and from what I understand this is something which comes into picture when you want to maintain blogs on your local machine. Is that correct?

I am using wordpress.com and I would like to customize my right side bar (like I can do in blogspot). It seems to me that each theme has certain items which appear on say right side bar and you can't change/add/delete these items. Currently in my "Connections" theme, I see "Categories" and "Monthly" heading with number of posts. I would like to have titles of these posts appear too, so that I quickly can see titles and choose which one I want to read.

Thanks,

there is a SE site dedicated to Wordpress if you are interested to the topic: http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/ - marco.ragogna on October 22, 2010

Partly correct. Wordpress.org is the place where you can find themes, plugins, documentation etc for wordpress. It's not just for your local machine. If you want to host your blog on your preferred ftp/host then wordpress.org is the place download and install it to your host.

If you want recent posts appear too, simply add "Recent Posts" widget to your right side bar (drag and drop). You can do that from the Appearance => Widgets menu.

Also, I think you should ask this on http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/
